Makie Glass Cup & Saucer 230ml – Asanoha, Hokusai, Momiji, Heat-Resistant

A cup and saucer set decorated in makie, the traditional Japanese lacquer decoration technique. A clear, heat-resistant glass cup with a handle sits on a saucer painted with one of three designs.

It is dishwasher-safe lacquer glassware. Special lacquer is applied to the back of the glass and sealed with a special dishwasher-safe coating resin. Because the lacquer sits behind the glass, the surface you touch is glass, which conventional lacquerware could not offer. The coating on the back protects the lacquered surface from scratches, and sandwiching the lacquer in the dishwasher-safe coating greatly improves its resistance to detergent and heat.

Choose from three designs: Asanoha (a traditional hemp-leaf pattern) on jet black, Hokusai (a wave design in gold) on akatame deep red, and Momiji (autumn leaves) on an ancient pure white ground. Order one set, or two sets.
