Kintsugi Small Plate 5.9in – Dishwasher-Safe Urushi Lacquer Glass

Kintsugi is a uniquely Japanese method of repairing broken ceramics and lacquerware by joining the fragments together with lacquer and gold or other metallic powder. This small round plate recreates that design, with golden "seams" running across a glossy, richly coloured surface.

It is dishwasher-safe lacquer glass tableware. Special lacquer is applied to the back of the glass and sealed with a special dishwasher-safe coating resin. Because the lacquer sits behind the glass, the surface you use is glass, so cutlery can be used on it, which conventional lacquerware does not allow. The coating on the back protects the lacquered surface from cutlery scratches, and sandwiching the lacquer in the dishwasher-safe coating greatly improves its resistance to detergent and heat.

At 150 mm (5.9 in) across, it is a compact plate that works well for small servings such as sweets, appetizers or as an accent plate. Choose from three colours: Vermilion, Pure White and Jet Black.

Presented in a paulownia wood box, it makes an ideal gift.
