Gold Leaf Small Rectangular Plate 5.9in – Dishwasher-Safe Lacquer Glass

A small rectangular plate decorated with gold leaf over lacquer, available in seven colours. Western tableware is combined with Japanese lacquer techniques and a unique texture to create a new type of lacquerware, greatly expanding the expression of your table coordination to match ever-evolving culinary creations.

It is dishwasher-safe lacquer glass tableware. Special lacquer is applied to the back of the glass and sealed with a special dishwasher-safe coating resin. Because the lacquer sits behind the glass, the surface you use is glass, so cutlery can be used on it, which conventional lacquerware does not allow. The coating on the back protects the lacquered surface from cutlery scratches, and sandwiching the lacquer in the dishwasher-safe coating greatly improves its resistance to detergent and heat.

The colours of lacquerware are expressed by applying several layers of different colours. Vermilion, for example, reflects the jet black beneath it, giving the deep colour that is unique to lacquer. The human eye tries to see the deepest and innermost colours, which is why lacquerware is described as having deep colours. This applies to the Pure White, Jet Black and Vermilion plates, ancient Japanese colours passed down through the ages.

The Majo plates are made in pursuit of genuine beauty, using sterling silver and gold leaf. At 150 × 95 mm (5.91 × 3.74 in), each plate is a compact size for sweets, appetizers or as an accent plate.
